Terms of use

Droplet is licensed to you under Apple's standard licensed application end user licence agreement (the EULA), together with these terms. If the two disagree, these terms apply to the extent the EULA allows.

What Droplet is, and isn't

Droplet is a journal that offers short reflections on what you write. It is not a medical device, and it does not diagnose, treat or give professional advice. Reflections are written by an AI model, can be wrong, and are general in nature. Droplet is not a substitute for care from a qualified professional.

If you are in danger or thinking about harming yourself, contact emergency services (111 in New Zealand) or a crisis line straight away. In New Zealand you can call or text 1737 at any time. More helplines are on our support page.

Droplet Plus subscriptions

  • Droplet Plus is an auto-renewing subscription, offered monthly or yearly. In New Zealand it is NZ$11.99 a month or NZ$89.99 a year. The App Store shows the price in your country before you confirm.
  • New subscribers may be offered a free trial of 14 days. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase, or when the free trial ends if you started one.
  • The subscription renews automatically at the same price and length unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within the 24 hours before the current period ends.
  • You can manage or cancel your subscription in your App Store account settings at any time. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep Plus until the end of the period you've paid for.
  • Any unused part of a free trial ends when you buy a subscription.
  • Apple handles billing and refunds. To ask for a refund, visit reportaproblem.apple.com.

Writing, your ocean, waters and your full history stay free whether or not you subscribe.

Your writing

What you write belongs to you. For what you write in Droplet's journal, you give us only the permission needed to send it for a reflection, as described in our privacy policy. We don't keep your journal and we don't use it for anything else. Feedback you send us is kept for 12 months and read to improve Droplet, as the privacy policy says.

Using Droplet fairly

Please don't try to break, overload or reverse engineer the service, or use Droplet Plus to generate content for purposes other than your own journal. We may limit how many reflections one subscription can request each day to keep the service running well for everyone.

Changes and availability

We work to keep Droplet running, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of errors. We may change or stop features. If a change affects what you pay for, we'll tell you in the app first.

Liability

Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or other laws that can't be excluded. Otherwise, to the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of Droplet.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand.
